so i’m trying to figure out several things at the same time: 1) what i should be doing with this blog (aka - why do i have a blog, other than the fact that one came with the template?) 2) how to use instagram posts to get people to look at this website (though i’m not entirely sure why, egotism?) and 3) what images, what content, do people like? as for this last one, i doubt that knowing the answer to this is going to change the images i make (i’m too old for that) but i am interested in the fact that of the images from this website that i post on instagram, the ones that i think are the“best l almost never garner the most likes.
i recognize that there’s a lot more that goes into instagram than just likes. there’s an algorithm that i don’t pretend to understand. there’s the time of day that something gets posted. there’s the odds that one’s followers actually happen to see whatever you’ve posted, and probably a lot of other factors i haven’t considered yet.
but the image above (a tree surrounded by a white fence) is the most “liked” image of all those i’ve posted from this website. it’s also garnered more positive “pure” comments on IG (about it as a photograph) than any other image i’ve posted.
don’t misunderstand me, i think it’s a good image or i wouldn’t have posted it, but i don’t think it’s the best image i’ve posted.
maybe the answer is, don’t bother my pretty little head trying to figure out the “likes” of ig? just post what i like and hope/see if it drives any traffic to my website.
if you happen to read this post, and have any opinions about any of the 3 questions above (but especially about question #1) i’d appreciate your feedback.
